When Architecture Makes the Future Visible: EXEMPLARY BUILDINGS in Uttenreuth
How do energy efficiency, ecology, economy, and good design connect with social needs? The exhibition EXEMPLARY BUILDINGS organized by the Bavarian Chamber of Architects showcases pioneering architecture from Bavaria in the administrative community of Uttenreuth from October 12 to 16, 2026. Photos, graphics, plans, and project information open the view to buildings that understand sustainability as an integral part of contemporary building culture, not just an addition.
Architecture Between Responsibility and Aesthetics
The exhibition illustrates how demanding design and resource-saving planning come together. The focus is on exemplary buildings from all government districts of Bavaria, whose qualities are made comprehensible based on uses, energy efficiency, building envelope, and material choices. The examination of works thus leads from the architectural idea to its concrete implementation.
Photos, Plans, and Materials as Tools for Thought
The presentation connects visual impressions with professional information. Photographs convey spatial effects and atmosphere, plans reveal constructive decisions, while data on materials and energy efficiency specify the ecological dimension of architecture. This creates a vivid approach to an expanded sense of art: architecture appears as a cultural practice that shapes quality of life, climate, and societal togetherness.
Opening with Project Presentations
The opening on October 12, 2026, starts at 6 PM with a vernissage featuring project presentations. New townhouses in the historical center, the Reidlingshöfer Häusla, the renovation of a historical building with a mansard roof, and the conversion of a listed barracks building will be showcased. The examples demonstrate diverse ways to preserve existing structures, utilize spaces meaningfully, and build sustainably.
Sustainability as Cultural Education
The exhibition understands architecture as a space for education. Criteria such as energy efficiency, land-saving, barrier-free access, sustainability, and climate adaptation are not treated abstractly but explained through concrete projects. For planners, clients, municipalities, and all architecture enthusiasts, the presentation offers valuable impulses for responsible design of our built environment.
Themed Evening on Climate Cultural Competence
On October 14, a themed evening complements the exhibition program. Lectures on future-oriented planning, building, and renovation, as well as climate adaptation with green buildings, further the discussion. A Q&A session and a joint conclusion create space for exchange.
Conclusion: Experience Future-Ready Architecture Live
EXEMPLARY BUILDINGS invites an aesthetic experience that connects design and social responsibility. Visitors discover comprehensible solutions for sustainable building and gain new perspectives on energy, materials, existing structures, and space. Those wishing to understand architecture as a mirror of our future should definitely visit this exhibition live in Uttenreuth.
