Prepare Japanese Sweets Yourself: Wagashi Course at kubic Erlangen

Fine craftsmanship, sweet aromas, and Japanese tea culture come together on October 18, 2026, in the cooking workshop of kubic in Erlangen. In the course Daifukumochi and Dorayaki – Traditional Japanese Sweets, participants aged 15 and above will learn to make two popular Wagashi specialties themselves.

Azuki-An as the Aromatic Centerpiece

The preparation of the sweet bean paste Azuki-An is at the heart of the event experience. The careful processing requires a delicate touch and provides an authentic insight into Japanese confectionery culture. The paste can be frozen and used for other Japanese desserts later.

Daifukumochi and Dorayaki with Personal Touch

Under expert guidance, two different classics will be created: delicate Daifukumochi and filled Dorayaki. The cooking course is aimed at people who enjoy precise, artisanal work, new taste experiences, and the combination of tradition and modern event planning.

Matcha, Sencha, and a Tasty Conclusion

Two high-quality teas from Japan will be offered for tasting. Sencha and Matcha complement the sweets with their characteristic aromas, turning the afternoon into a sensual journey through Japanese tea culture. A calm event atmosphere, concentrated work, and shared tasting characterize the audience's mood in the cooking workshop.

Well Prepared for the Cooking Course

Please bring two kitchen towels, an apron, and a container for samples. The material costs of 17 euros are already included in the fee. The course is organized by vhs Erlangen and led by Akiko Nojiri.

The kubic stands as a cultural and educational campus of the city of Erlangen for creative educational offers, exchange, and collective learning. The cooking workshop thus provides an appropriate setting for this hands-on insight into Japanese sweets.

Conclusion

Anyone who wants to not only try Japanese Wagashi but also prepare them will experience an educational and enjoyable afternoon at kubic. Secure your place and discover Daifukumochi, Dorayaki, Azuki-An, and Japanese teas with all senses.
