Digital self-determined: The DI.Day in ZAM brings fresh impulses to Erlangen
On Sunday, September 6, 2026, the DI.Day Digital Independence Day invites you to the ZAM - Center for Exchange and Making in Erlangen. The meeting starts at 6:00 PM and is aimed at anyone seeking digital sovereignty, free alternatives, and a more critical view of large tech companies.
An evening for digital independence
The DI.Day sees itself as a relaxed rebellion against dependence on a few platforms. The focus is on questions surrounding Google, Apple, Microsoft, Meta, and other dominant providers - and above all, the search for practical ways out. The format fits perfectly with the open character of ZAM: exchange, collaborative thinking, and direct experimentation instead of gray theory.
Why this date at ZAM fits particularly well
The ZAM on Erlangen's Hauptstraße stands for workshops, encounters, and collaborative making. This very atmosphere also shapes the DI.Day. Visitors experience an event that brings together knowledge, community, and digital self-determination. Instead of a frontal lecture, an open space for questions, ideas, and concrete next steps is created.
What participants can expect
The event targets people who want to choose their digital everyday tools more consciously. This includes topics like privacy-friendly alternatives, independent communication, open software, and dealing with digital monopolies. Those who have only superficially engaged with the topic so far will find a low-threshold entry here.
Location with suitable infrastructure
The ZAM - Center for Exchange and Making is centrally located in Erlangen and designed as an open house for encounters. Barrier-free access, elevators, and accessible restrooms provide a good framework. Thus, the location fits not only thematically but also organizationally with the character of the event.
Conclusion
The DI.Day Digital Independence Day combines social relevance with an open, approachable event framework. Those who want to not only discuss digital independence but also initiate concrete steps will experience an evening with clear added value. On September 6, 2026, the trip to ZAM is particularly worthwhile.
