On Saturday, October 17, 2026, the LBV (Bavarian State Association for Bird and Nature Conservation), Erlangen District Group, invites you to a special nature experience. Under the guidance of Hans-Peter Schnick, the walk will take place in the immediate and surrounding areas of Erlangen, combining birdwatching with a conscious break from everyday life.
With Open Senses Through Nature
At the center is the mindful observation of birds and other creatures. Participants will experience the local nature in a relaxed, informal atmosphere, focusing their attention on sounds, movements, and characteristic habitats. This creates an intense discovery experience that combines nature observation with personal relaxation.
Birdwatching with Professional Guidance
Hans-Peter Schnick will accompany the excursion as a speaker from LBV Erlangen. The walk includes exercises from the book The Power of Birdwatching by Angelika Nelson and Holly Merker. The combination of ornithological observation, nature experience, and simple perception exercises makes the city tour into the green a cultural and ecological enrichment.
Meeting Point and Process
The group will meet at 08:00 at the large parking lot P3 at the exit of Erlangen main station, Field 3. The specific goals of the excursion will be announced one week before the date. The walk is expected to end around 11:00. Registration is required; carpooling and ride-sharing options can be organized.
Well Prepared on the Go
For the three-hour nature experience, the organizer recommends seasonally appropriate clothing and rain protection. A cushion or seat chair as well as binoculars can be meaningfully used during birdwatching. The event is aimed at adults aged 18 and over.
